Ground broken in Jackson for new pellet mill

The official groundbreaking for Jackson Pellets, LLC was held Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The $17 million mill is being built at the Jackson Port site on the Tombigbee River. It is expected to create 20 to 25 new jobs.

Representatives from CM Biomass, contractors, the Industrial Development Board members, mayor and city council members were on hand for the much anticipated event.

Lunch was provided for the officers of the new industry and local leaders at the Community House after the groundbreaking.
